AI Is Transforming QA — But Only If Humans Lead the Way

by / ⠀AI / January 9, 2026

With only $3,000 in capital, Khurram Mir dreamed of starting a business. He was fresh out of his MBA program, and he didn’t want to go the traditional route of a business major, joining the corporate life and scaling the ladder. He believed in the invisible: the systems, checks, and discipline that ensure reliability. The story of Khurram Mir starts with the conviction that quality is more than just code.

Challenging the QA Status Quo

Mir obtained his MBA in Marketing at Lahore University of Management Sciences, and then he went to work in QA. He found that quality assurance was considered an afterthought, overlooked as a backup plan for developers who didn’t succeed in coding roles.

He says, “That mindset always bothered me. I’ve always believed that if we want to succeed as a business, we need to stand out — not just by being visible, but by constantly evolving.” Evolution to him means developing better processes and passionately improving, not just doing as told.

With that $3,000, Mir found a client in Dubai within six months, but the “happily ever after” didn’t come so easily. Without venture capital funding, Mir traded his health, relationships, and time to build out Kualitatem and Kualitee

Building a QA Ecosystem

Today, Kualitatem is a TMMi Level 5 certified QA and information security consulting firm, and Kualitee is the company’s AI-powered test management platform, a program now used by teams in over 120 countries.

Most QA solutions were designed for reporting, rather than real-world workflows. Mir and his team built Kualitee as an AI-powered, intuitive platform designed by testers, for testers.

Paired with Kualitatem’s certified service excellence, Kualitee and Kualitatem create a rare synergy: product and consultant. Kualitatem not only assists clients with testing but also provides the tools to do so, which is another way Mir takes quality assurance seriously.

Setbacks That Shaped the Strategy

Even with a standout system, the road to greatness is not a smooth one. A few years into Kualitatem’s operation, a major client went through management changes and terminated their working relationship with the consulting firm. Mir faced a crossroads: focus on this important customer or pursue new businesses.

He chose to change and pursue new businesses because, in his words, “We could not invest all our energy into one customer.” Prioritizing longevity and building systems kept Kualitatem independent and allowed the company to become the resilient business it is today.

Khurram Mir has walked the hard path to success and built his vision for a QA business through his own struggle because he believed in the importance of ensuring an excellent product. In the future, Mir intends to evolve Kualitatem into a global center of QA excellence and build Kualitee’s AI copilot, Hootie, into the world’s most intuitive QA platform.

Paying It Forward

He wants to empower the next wave of entrepreneurs by building creative space in underserved regions, “social incubators,” he calls them, with the mindset that once you have built something that lasts, the next step is to help others do the same.
