The island of Nevis launched a new tourism campaign this month at an exclusive event in New York attended by the island’s Premier, Mark Brantley. The rebrand will set Nevis apart from other Caribbean destinations, marketing the island as a luxury travel destination for those seeking an authentic and nostalgic experience.

Brantley explained that Nevis’ new branding is eccentric while different, building on the island’s unique appeal to global visitors, at an event attended by a large number of media and industry professionals.

‘The black and white imagery in parts of the campaign is intended to evoke class, sophistication, elegance, old world charm, authenticity, a deep history… all of which aptly describe our island’, said Brantley.

‘We’re trying to evoke a timelessness. If you want seclusion, if you want courtesy, if you want that bespoke experience, then Nevis is the place to go, ’ he continued.

Premier Brantley has highlighted that the campaign is targeted at an international audience to attract affluent tourists to the island further.

Since the pandemic, Nevis has significantly enhanced its offering to international visitors, receiving attention for its efforts. Visitor numbers have continued to climb, a boon to local businesses.

A destination of choice for British royals, Brantley’s administration has been working hard to enhance the island’s appeal, not least through improving facilities at the island’s airport.

Nevis’ rustic charm and cultural offerings, embodied by the island’s catch-phrase ‘It’s a Nevisian Thing’, are unique to the region. Return guests to the island are common, helping to foster a unique and warm visitor community.

Unlike other Caribbean destinations, Nevis has maintained its historic charm while also offering visitors a truly luxurious experience. The island boasts an excellent reputation for its food, complemented by several high-end hotels, including the renowned Four Seasons Resort.

Nevertheless, the island continues to modernize and seek foreign investment to propel its development forward. As noted by the Premier, positive developments are on the horizon, including a potential ‘game-changer’ which would solidify long-term economic growth.

‘We’ve been progressing quietly, but we want the world to take notice. It’s time to make a bit more noise. It’s time that Nevis becomes part of the conversation’, Brantley said at the event.

Also present at the launch event was the former Secretary General of the Caribbean Tourism Organisation, Hugh Riley, who echoed the Premier’s remarks.

‘Nevis has long provided a Caribbean experience untouched by fleeting trends. Just eight miles long and six miles wide, the island is steeped in history, from its sighting by Columbus in 1493 to its past as a prosperous sugar colony and its evolution into the 18th-century spa capital of the West Indies,’ he highlighted.

Nevis’ new tourism branding reflects the island itself: Timeless, unique, and rich with history and culture.
