While cryptocurrency and blockchain technology have existed since the publication of the Bitcoin whitepaper in 2009, these technological applications did not rise to widespread prominence until 2020. In the years since then, the amount of attention and interactions these technologies have cultivated has only improved the technological foundations of these innovations. As such, new forms of blockchain technology are being introduced now that capitalize on the growth of the intervening years in striking ways, such as Sui. Sui introduces a paradigm shift in blockchain architecture by prioritizing asset composability and parallel execution, offering a glimpse of what faster, developer-friendly chains might look like in practice. It has a unique structure that enables performance gains without compromising decentralization or security. In 2025, it’s easy to take the internet for granted. People are quick to fear or resent what they do not fully understand, and both the internet and blockchain technology fall into this category early on in their lives. With the internet, having exposure to it led people to begin to understand the technology and its potential benefits all the more. In tandem with this, the longer consumers were exposed to the technology, the more it could be refined and improved. As a result, when consumers were ready to embrace the technology on a larger scale, it was the most efficient it had ever been. Similarly, blockchain and cryptocurrency have followed a similar early trajectory over the past several years. Now, as audiences embrace the technology on a broader level, new technology such as Sui is serving to make it easier, more accessible, and more efficient than ever. 

What Makes Sui Different

Sui is a Layer 1 blockchain that has rapidly gained attention for its token value and unconventional design principles. It uses an object-centric data model (rather than Ethereum’s account-based structure), allowing developers to build assets that can interact more efficiently and intuitively. Furthermore, Sui’s ability to parallelize transaction processing has led to significantly higher throughput, making it ideal for gaming, asset-heavy dApps, and real-time experiences. Sui stands out for its use of the Move programming language, originating from Meta’s Diem project, and its benefits in terms of safety and customizability for developers. The shift is underway, and with Sui, scaling no longer requires sacrifice.
