The Social Security Administration (SSA) has announced that Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients will receive their payments on July 1, 2025. This is the only payday scheduled for the SSI program in July. However, some SSI beneficiaries who also receive Social Security retirement or disability benefits will get a second payment just a few days later on July 3, 2025.
This applies to those who began collecting Social Security before May 1997. To qualify for SSI, individuals must have limited income and resources.
Two SSI payments in July
They must also meet one of the following criteria:
– Have a qualifying disability or medical condition
– Be at least 65 years old
Children can also receive SSI if they meet the financial requirements and have a disability or are blind. The maximum SSI benefit in 2025 is $967 for individuals and $1,450 for couples. The actual amount received may be lower depending on other income and resources.
Those who qualify for both SSI and Social Security can expect to receive their SSI payment on July 1 and their Social Security payment on July 3, resulting in two different deposits within a short timeframe. SSI plays a crucial role in supplementing the income of those in need, helping them avoid poverty. If you think you or a loved one may be eligible, it’s essential to check the requirements and apply for the program to get the financial assistance you deserve.
