Billur Eda Bilgi is a New York-based graphic designer whose work bridges creativity, clarity, and impact. In her time as a graphic designer at The Working Assembly, Bilgi has been making her mark in the design world through a variety of projects ranging from consumer products and corporate branding to public school education and community.  Billur Eda Bilgi Bilgi has demonstrated her versatility through projects like the brand identity for Union Square Partnership. Union Square Partnership, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and preserving New York City’s vibrant Union Square neighborhood, needed a flexible brand identity that would communicate Union Square’s dynamic personality that New Yorkers know and love. Billur Eda Bilgi led the creation of a modular visual system that flexes to accommodate the non-profit’s various events and communications. Her design incorporated bespoke cut-paper-inspired illustrations, a clean icon system, and bold typography, all underscored by a rich, seasonally adaptable color palette.  Billur Eda Bilgi Billur Eda Bilgi’s work on Yim, a coconut water brand based in Thailand, further demonstrates her creative strength and design sensibility. Yim emphasizes mindful hydration to nurture a clear mind, a sound body, and a sense of well-being. For Yim, Bilgi developed a visual identity that blends bold natural colors with lo-fi, spontaneous photography and playful typographic cues inspired by street-market sign painting. The Yim logo cleverly integrates a water droplet and a subtle smirk, reflecting the Thai meaning of “Yim” (smile). At the same time, the packaging design educates consumers and evokes a sense of craftsmanship. This project garnered multiple awards, including Gold at dotCOMM, Silver at both the Muse Design Awards and the International Excellence Awards, and Winner at the K-Design Awards.

Billur Eda Bilgi 3 Bilgi showcases a broad and adaptable design practice, with experience in both commercial sectors and public education. Public School 9 (PS9), an elementary school on New York City’s Upper West Side, set out to reimagine how it presented itself to its community. The goal was to communicate its mission, to nurture curious learners who embrace exploration, through a bold and dynamic visual identity. Bilgi played an instrumental role in developing logos, print and digital materials, and more, creating a cohesive visual identity that extended into the school’s physical environment. “In designing the visual identity, we not only focused on expressing the school’s mission but also considered the primary users of the brand: the teachers—the new PS9 identity needed to be clean, impactful, and most importantly, easy to implement. By prioritizing usability and clarity, I believe we successfully created a brand system that is both visually striking and functional.” Bilgi says. The impact of this brand identity work was palpable: It gave the PS9 community a clearer sense of belonging, a way of seeing the school not just as a building but as a living institution with a recognizable voice. Billur Eda Bilgi 4 “The challenge was to embody the spirit of exploration, PS9’s core value, while standing strong as an academic institution,” notes Billur Eda Bilgi. “We needed to create something that resonated with parents, teachers, and students: something both playful and credible. It was a delicate balance to strike.” In an industry where creativity is both craft and career, fueling that creative spark over time can be a challenge. In reflecting on how she sustains her creativity, Bilgi credited a wide range of sources that continually drive her work. “I love watching movies through the lens of a graphic designer. I’m often in awe of the use of color, typography in a title sequence, or the clever composition of a scene.” Bilgi continues: “I’m also an avid crocheter. It’s nice to take a break from screens and go back to the joy of crafting by hand.”
