The Social Security Administration has confirmed major changes to upcoming Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payments in 2025. Some months will have double payments, while others will have no deposits at all. SSI is usually paid on the first of each month.
However, when that date falls on a weekend or a federal holiday, payments are sent on the last business day of the previous month. This prevents payment delays. Here are the scheduled payment dates for May 2025:
May 1 (Thursday): Standard May SSI payment
May 30 (Friday): Advance payment for June (since June 1 falls on a Sunday)
As June’s payment is issued at the end of May, there will be no SSI deposit in June.
If you receive a double payment, note that it is meant for the following month and is not a bonus or overpayment. According to the SSA, if you receive both SSI and Social Security benefits and began receiving Social Security before May 1997, you may receive up to three deposits in May:
SSI payment for May
Social Security payment
Early SSI payment for June
Therefore, in May, you could receive two SSI payments and one Social Security payment.
