Nikan Nadimkhah: Challenging stereotypes to encourage healthier online communities

Social media influencer Nikan Nadimkhah believes that gaming doesn’t have to be unhealthy. In fact, he hopes his magnanimous influence online will challenge social stereotypes and encourage communities of gamers to lead healthy, balanced lifestyles. His immensely popular YouTube channel and enormous social media following has been the result of his impactful stance on gaming and health. He believes he has a powerful voice online and he wants to use this to reach as many as possible.

Leading by example

“It is a stereotype that gaming is unhealthy,” says Nikan, who wants to use his voice as an influencer to challenge social stereotypes. He began his own transformative journey after his father died, determining he wanted to live the kind of life which would make his father proud. And so he used his already-popular social media platforms to begin healthy video clips and content, chronicling his own journey as he shed over 100 lbs. “I started with strictly gaming content,” he said, explaining when he first began with YouTube content, he had used the platform to upload Call of Duty gaming uploads and instructionals.  “I realised I was really good at creating a following as the number of my followers increased at a rapid rate,” he said. However, the real direction for his work came when his father passed away and he added health to the mix, giving his content that extra edge and his personal pages a unique voice. As an influencer, he challenges his online community to be the best they can be and he uses state-of-the-art content to do so. “I have always loved gaming and have realized this is a creative space which a lot of people come to, to find a sense of community and in some cases, a family bond,” he says. “YouTube and gaming helped me get through some of the hardest times of my life and I want to do my best to help others do the same.” He believes his work challenges stereotypes, encourages personal improvement, facilitates dialogue and communication, and brings people together.

A golden track record of success

As a social media influencer, Nikan has forged his way from success to success. Many people would battle to get a 100,000 Subscriber Plaque for YouTube, however, Nikan has already surpassed this milestone with his personal channel, and has a 1,000,000 Subscriber Plaque. He is aiming to gain 5 million subscribers on YouTube and to reach a billion total views across his social media accounts. He has also been successful on other leading platforms, among them Instagram (@fazenikan), X (@FaZeNikan), and TikTok (@thefazenikan). As the sole and leading social media influencer for these accounts, he is indisputably vital to their continued success, where he shoots, performs in, edits, directs, and produces numerous content which reaches hundreds of thousands of viewers; and on certain platforms, even several million followers. As a leading social media influencer using these accounts, he shares sports and lifestyle content from numerous iconic brands to his international fan base.  He currently has 1.33 million subscribers on YouTube, 494,000 followers on Instagram, 556,400 followers on X, and 71,000 followers on TikTok, with 445,800 likes.  He is also a $60,000 Gaming Tournament Winner (charity), a Host of Toronto Maple Leafs gaming day, a G Fuel Brand Ambassador (a three-times winner of Ambassador of the Month), a Leader of FaZe House, and a Faze Clan Member of the Month (two times). He is affiliated with the FaZe Clan, an American professional esports and entertainment organization, having joined as a graphic designer, and eventually transitioning to become a content creator for the platform.

The makings of a social media influencer

Nikan grew up in Burlington, Ontario, Canada, with a love for video games, and competitive sports. He explained he became a social media influencer quite by chance: “After high school I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do,” he said. He said he had spent a lot of his time in high school building an online community. “I was meeting new friends from around the world and realised that this wasn’t just a hobby – it could become a career.” Nikan saw the immense potential which online platforms had to generate community, values, communication, feedback, debate, revenue growth and brand success. Realising that he wanted to become an influencer and be a voice of social change, he decided to study graphic design to give himself the edge online. This was also when he  discovered YouTube and set up his own channel, before spreading his magic across a variety of other platforms, such as Instagram, TikTok and X. He has never looked back.

Nikan’s phenomenal success online is completely measurable. He has managed to accumulate as many as 2 million followers and 300 million views across his various social media platforms.
