Social Security payments with COLA due July 9

by / ⠀News / July 10, 2025

On July 9, 2025, many Social Security recipients will receive their monthly payments. This date is set for those born between the 1st and 10th of any month. The payments will include a 2.5% cost-of-living adjustment (COLA), so many will see an increase in their usual amounts.

The Social Security Administration (SSA) has a specific schedule for distributing payments. Those born between the 11th and 20th will be paid on July 16, and those born between the 21st and 31st will be paid on July 23. Individuals who receive both Social Security and SSI or started receiving benefits before May 1997 were already paid on July 3.

The 2.5% COLA increase means higher average payments for retirees. Those who opted for early retirement at age 62 will see this increase, as will those who waited until the full retirement age of 67.

For individuals who postponed retirement until age 70, the cap can reach up to $5,108 per month. This is achievable for those who worked for 35 years with income at the tax limit. If you do not receive your payment on the expected date, first check your bank account to confirm deposit details.

If the payment isn’t visible on July 9, wait three business days for possible bank delays. If the payment still does not appear after four days, contact your bank first and then the SSA at 1-800-772-1213. The average monthly payment for Social Security in July 2025 is expected to be around $1,976, with the maximum payout reaching $5,108 for those who began their benefits later. Remember, those receiving both SSA and SSI or who started receiving benefits before 1997 should have already received their payment on July 3. If problems arise with payment, waiting a few days and then checking with the SSA is advised.
