This plunge in users could possibly result from the increasing competition between social media platforms, such as Instagram, Snapchat, and Byte, which also compete for the young user demographic. Amidst these developments, many U.S. lawmakers are calling for a ban on TikTok, citing national security and data privacy concerns. This adds to the ongoing issues the platform is facing, adding fuel to the worries over the app’s financial viability.

Despite these threats, TikTok might face a potential ban. The U.S. House of Representatives has passed a bill calling for it unless ByteDance relinquishes its U.S. operations. As this bill is still under review in the Senate, how the situation will unfold is yet to be seen.
