Get Known in Your Industry Faster and Work Less with Ryan O’Connell

by / ⠀Entrepreneurship Podcast / October 27, 2015

Don’t you wish everyone already knew you, so you didn’t have to work so hard promoting yourself?

Imagine your work was published in just the right place at the right time, so you could go do the things important to you…

This is exactly what I talk to my friend Ryan O’Connell of Influence and Co. about in hopes that we can teach you how to get more recognition for your work in less time.  And yes, of course we talk about that pesky work life balance question.

“Our biggest mission in life is to help folks get quality content on our behalf out to the right target audience.”

“If you’re not a good writer, don’t beat yourself up. Either find a support staff or find a good medium that will make sense for you to be effective.”

“There are different parts of your life where you value different things in terms of happiness, not only my personal happiness, but its also my wife’s happiness, my family’s happiness and her family’s happiness”

“Mindset is everything..”

“If there are opportunities to outsource any parts of your life, take a look at that from a cost perspective and then take a look at it on a happiness perspective.”

“I don’t think anybody loves their job a 100% at a time but I think if you can get to that 80%, that’s where I think you start to combine the idea of this work-life balance.”

“You’re never gonna accomplish any if you don’t start out and start making some mistakes”

“You’re always going to remember the things that you did and you’re always going to regret the things that you didn’t do over the things that you did.”

“Meeting people and building relationships is everything.”

“Every person I talked to can either be a client, a partner, someone who can send me business or help me out or an advocate.”

“Value your time every second of every day..”

“You get one major “ask” with people. You get one opportunity to really ask them and don’t waste that. Make sure you are not asking too much.”

“Make sure before you’re asking people for things whether it’s small or big, that you’re offering value to them.”

“Make sure you make the “ask” if there’s anything in life that you want to pull the trigger on whether asking for business, personal or anything.”
