How Young Entrepreneurs Can Optimize Their Health

by / ⠀Blog / September 23, 2025
An essential part of a healthy business is a healthy body–if your body isn’t running optimally, neither is your business. In the daily grind, it’s essential that young entrepreneurs are conscious of their health and energy in everything they do. We all want to approach challenges with a clear mind and a strong body. Here are some simple tips on how to optimize your physical health while running your business.

Get Energized

Lethargy is the bane of growth. That’s why it’s essential to find the best ways to remain energetic and attentive. One increasingly popular way to keep up one’s energy is to take vitamins and supplements. The body burns through a lot in a day, and taking various supplements can help make up the difference and provide the boost you need. Whether it’s the usual suspects, such as B12 or vitamin C, or travel-specific vitamins for jet lag, it’s important your body has what it needs for peak efficiency. Another incredibly effective practice to stay energized is to get active. It’s not just good for your physical health, but also your mental health. A healthier body and mind won’t drag you down–just the opposite–and you’ll have far more capacity to stay on top of those daily responsibilities. General activity and exercise boost key processes in your body that help keep you primed and ready. Getting proper rest is also necessary for good energy. As it turns out, being more active throughout the day helps you sleep better when it comes time to put your head on the pillow. So, follow a steady sleep schedule. Wake up and go to bed at consistent times. Those all-nighters aren’t as good for you as you may think; try to avoid them.

A final key to keeping the fatigue at bay is to take short breaks. Don’t just take a lunch break and call it good. Pepper in short periods where you take a break from staring at papers and screens, get up and move around a bit. A minute or two is often all your body needs to get a little reset so that you can keep working hard.

Stay Hydrated, Eat Well

It cannot be understated how essential a healthy diet is for hustling entrepreneurs. Life is fast, which can make it easy to rely on fast food, cheap snacks, and energy drinks. Eating junk is easy and quick—it also quickly tanks your health. But the modern world does make it hard to eat well. Luckily, there are some things you can do about that. Start by drinking plenty of water. Your dog probably knows the benefits of drinking water; they’ve been so thoroughly documented by this point. Staying hydrated affects everything from your physical health to your mental health, including your concentration. Not drinking enough does just the opposite, not to mention the dehydration headaches. Since it helps fill your stomach, drinking water can increase your satiety, reducing hunger and the temptation to reach for that quick snack. Obviously, you need more than water, but to stay at optimal health, you can’t just put any food into your body. It’s crucial to be smart about what you eat, especially in an entrepreneurial lifestyle. There are hundreds of different diets out there for you to try. Feel free to explore, but the bottom line is to focus on putting in what your body needs rather than what’s convenient. Be mindful of your balance between macronutrients; aim for the right amount of fat, carbs, and protein. Plan out what you’re going to eat and stick with it.

One more thing that will help you eat well more consistently is to allow yourself the occasional treat. This aligns perfectly with the planning! It seems a little paradoxical, yes, but try giving yourself something tasty to look forward to later in the day or in the week. You’ll find you won’t be as tempted to indulge in the cakes and candies you see everywhere.

Take Care of Your Eyes

Here’s one we probably don’t think about often. Consider this: when was the last time you didn’t look at a computer screen for a day? You’re looking at one right now to read this—chances are, you use one for multiple hours a day when working. You definitely need your eyes as an entrepreneur, so it’s essential to practice good “eye-giene.” Try to look away from the computer screen regularly, focusing on distant objects. Don’t wait until your vision starts to blur to do this; whenever you need to take a moment to think, try not to zone out on the screen. Occasionally shifting your gaze to something else helps preserve your vision in the long run. If you feel your eyes getting tired, a basic pair of blue light-blocking glasses can lessen the intensity of screen lights. Maintaining the right diet can also play a role in your eye care. Ensure you include foods rich in nutrients essential for eye health. Your parents definitely weren’t lying to you when they said carrots were good for your eyes. However, you can also ensure that you include items like eggs, fish, and other lean meats, or beans if you’re following a vegetarian diet.
