Why You Need To Stop Waiting And Start Doing

Stop Waiting to Take ActionForget all the reasons it won’t work and believe the one reason that it will.” ~Unknown

Stop waiting for the perfect time to start something, or build your dream startup. Stop waiting until the time is perfect. Stop waiting until your product is perfect. Stop waiting for things to come to you, and start taking action.

I’ve heard all the excuses in the book:

  • I don’t have enough startup capital
  • I don’t have a technical cofounder
  • I don’t know where to start
  • I’m too scared
  • I don’t have any connections
  • I’m too busy
  • I don’t know how to build it
  • I don’t have any good ideas

It goes on and on. But it’s all bullshit. Seriously, it is.

Don’t have enough money? Be resourceful.

As an entrepreneur you’ll never have enough capital for any business that you are working on building. You’ll always want to keep growing. Do you think Facebook was happy at 1M users? You know the answer.

Don’t know how to build it, or have a technical cofounder? Find someone to help you.

Start networking. Learn it yourself. Read a book. Don’t have connections? Build them, or find them. Go out there and network. If you can’t do any of these things then there’s no magical solution that’s going to help you do it. Success isn’t going to come knocking at your door. Success doesn’t come from excuses. Success comes from hard work.

Don’t have a good idea? Ideas are nothing.

Ideas have no value. There’s no such thing as a good idea. Nobody knows if an idea is “good” without testing, and market research. Ideas need good execution. Learn to test and test and test some more. Don’t build something no one wants or needs to use. Testing and learning from your data is incredible information for you and your business or product.

Don’t pretend you know what you’re doing by just building, or working on something. If you don’t know if people will use it then go out there and find out. Test some more. You don’t need a product to sell a product.

Be passionate about what you do. If you’re not passionate about your own product, or about your business, then don’t expect anybody else to get excited about using it.

Nothing you’re doing or working on will ever be perfect. The longer you wait, the more time you’re wasting not actually having a product, or a business. You need customer feedback. The only real way to get this is to build something and to get people using it.

Once you do launch something or build something, you can’t expect people to just start using it. Stop hoping to hit the jackpot and for your startup to go viral. It just doesn’t happen. You can add some things to your product that will make it spread more readily and easily, but nobody is going to do your work for you.

Stop hoping, or waiting for things to happen, and start making them happen.
